Jack Garland (Australian politician)
John Davis "Jack" Garland (8 April 1922 – 3 September 1993) was an Australian politician. He was a Labor member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1981 to 1990.
Garland was born in Sydney, and after leaving school became a toolmaker. He was active in the trade union movement, serving as National Secretary of the Australian Electrical Union and the Australian Metal Workers' Union from 1957 to 1981. He held Labor Party membership for over forty years, and was a delegate to the State and Federal Electoral Councils. He also served five years as state vice-president. In 1981, he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Council. He served until his resignation in 1990, when he was replaced by Jeff Shaw.
Garland died in Sydney in 1993.〔
